Seahawks QB Geno Smith sends message to ex-teammate Russell Wilson after benching

Throughout his time with the Seattle Seahawks, there's been nothing but praise publicly about the type of teammate quarterback Geno Smith is. He's apparently a pretty great former teammate as well.

After the news that the Denver Broncos opted to bench Russell Wilson for the season's final two games, leading to reports and rumors that the team will part ways with him, Smith had a message about his former teammate.

It was great to see Smith post this and show some love to his former teammate, and there's obviously no shortage of admiration there. It's also a great show of respect between the two signal callers following a decision by the Broncos that is more than a bit baffling.

If Denver opts to move on from Wilson and release him, the team will likely be on the hook for roughly $124 million over two years, as SI's Albert Breer detailed. And for good measure, per Breer, Wilson was already under contract for those two years, as his new contract hadn't kicked in, for just $51 million.
