MLB strikeout bets Friday 4/5: Happy Fade Patrick Corbin Day

We went 1-1 with our two strikeout props on Thursday, keeping our record to .500 on the week. We have one last chance to scratch out a profitable week, so let's do just that with our three favorite K props for Friday's MLB slate.

Patrick Corbin under 3.5 Ks (+140 ESPN BET)

Phillies vs. Nationals, 6:45 p.m. ET

Patrick Corbin isn't a very effective swing-and-miss pitcher at this point in his career. The Washington Nationals left-hander recorded a career-low 15.7 percent strikeout rate and 6.2 strikeouts per nine innings last season, and he managed just two Ks in his 2024 debut against the Cincinnati Reds.

This is a tough matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies, a team that has torched Corbin in the past. In his last 20.1 innings against the Phillies, Corbin has given up 28 runs and struck out only nine batters. He hasn't cleared 3.5 Ks in any of his last five starts against Philadelphia, and we don't think he will here.

Hunter Brown under 5.5 Ks (-132 FanDuel)

Astros vs. Rangers, 8:05 p.m. ET

Hunter Brown is normally a strikeout machine, but he's struggled against the Texas Rangers in his career. Current Rangers hitters are batting .333 against Brown with a 13.1 percent strikeout rate in 61 plate appearances, per Baseball Savant. Brown's career strikeout rate as a pro is 26.4 percent, so this is clearly a tough matchup for the 25-year-old.

Texas has the eighth-lowest K rate in MLB this season (20.1 percent), so we'll ride the under.

Freddy Peralta over 7.5 Ks (-122 FD)

Mariners vs. Brewers, 8:10 p.m. ET

This is a perfect assortment of factors for a strikeout prop over. First off, we're backing a talented starter in Freddy Peralta with lights-out stuff and multiple swing-and-miss pitches. We're also fading a lineup that loves chasing pitches out of the zone, as the Seattle Mariners rank dead last in MLB in strikeout rate (30.2 percent) this season. The Mariners also recorded the second-most strikeouts in the league last year.

Lastly, Peralta has a ridiculous 57.1 percent strikeout rate and a .111 batting average allowed against current Mariners hitters. We'll gladly take the over in this matchup.
