Gabriel Arias began the season as a utility infielder and outfielder for the Cleveland Guardians through the first half. The team recognized his importance to the team's future and wanted him to play even if it wasn't his natural position of shortstop.

This sporadic playing time and moving all around the field clearly wasn't the best for Arias' development and this mainly showed up at the plate. He has plenty of natural pop which can be seen in his average exit velocity of 90.7.

Arias became the team's go-to shortstop after Cleveland traded Amed Rosario at the end of July. This move was primarily made to open up playing time for Arias, Tyler Freeman, Brayan Rocchio, and Jose Tena.

It took a little while for the 23-year-old to settle into this new role, but he's starting to take off.

Arias has a slash line of .262/.290/.456 over his last 30 games and an even better .370/.393/.630 in his last seven contests. The more he plays on a consistent basis, the better Arias gets.

Heading into Monday night's game against the Minnesota Twins, Arias was on a six-game hit steak which includes three straight multi-hit games. Arias is now the youngest player to have multiple hits in three straight games since Francisco Lindor did it back at the beginning of September 2016.

Arias is hitting .435 (10-23) with four doubles, a home run, and four RBI during that six-game stretch.

Seeing Arias join Lindor in a stat such as this one as a young shortstop is a welcome site. Fans and the organization have been waiting to see which young middle infielder would take the shortstop position as their own and Aris is undoubtedly making the case that he's that guy.

Terry Francona has mentioned on multiple occasions just how great of a defender he is and we are confident there's a good hitter in there too if he gets the right playing time.

Now we're seeing that batter come through.
